FOLSOM STREET EVENTS™ ANNOUNCES MAJOR AND SUPPORTING BENEFICIARIES FOR HISTORIC 2008 SEASON
Net proceeds from upcoming 25th Folsom Street Fair to benefit local charity work

San Francisco, CA - February 25, 2008 - The Board of Directors of Folsom Street Events announced the line up of its Major and Supporting beneficiaries today. Net proceeds from four San Francisco fetish events (Bay of Pigs™, Up Your Alley®, Magnitude®, and Folsom Street Fair®) will be donated to local charities working in public health, human services, and the arts. Last year, Folsom Street Events donated $350,066 to charities in need.

Andy Copper, Board President, says, “We are very proud to announce this year’s Major and Supporting Beneficiaries. These organizations are a diverse representation of the community, and we have no doubt that they will work closely with us to produce a record-breaking and historic year of events. Demetri Moshoyannis, Executive Director, added, “With our upcoming 25th Folsom Street Fair, we are planning for a huge, over-the-top San Francisco Leather Week. We hope to donate a truly massive check to these deserving charities come November.”

This year’s eleven (11) Major beneficiaries include:

  • AIDS Emergency Fund
  • Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center
  • Frameline
  • Healing Waters
  • Lyon-Martin Health Services
  • Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS)
  • Positive Resource Center
  • Project Open Hand
  • San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus
  • St. James Infirmary
  • Tenderloin Health
As in past years, The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will return to host the gates for both major street fairs. This year’s five (5) Supporting beneficiaries include:
  • Community United Against Violence
  • Quan Yin Healing Arts Center
  • Shanti Project
  • Transgender Law Center
  • Triangle Martial Arts Association
